As more people use electricity for things like electric cars and home heating, demand is increasing. In some homes, electricity is shared with a neighbour, which can limit how much power is available.

That's why we're upgrading electricity connections, so each home has its own electricity supply.

Why you've been contacted

You've received a letter because your home is in an area we're planning to work in.

What this upgrade involves

In some homes, electricity is connected from one property to another, meaning neighbours share the same connection. This was a common way to supply homes in the past.

You can check if your electricity service is looped to your neighbour’s house by looking at the meter setup. If it’s looped, you’ll see two cables going into the bottom of your cut-out fuse as shown in the diagram.

Usually, the looped service is buried underground and may run under your garden or path in front of your house.

If you only see one cable going into the bottom of your cut-out as shown on the right, you either don’t have a looped service to your neighbour’s property or you are at the end of the loop.

To improve this, we install a new connection directly from the street to your home. This means your home will have its own electricity supply.
