"Transforming operations, behaviours and industry to power sustainable change"
We believe that our network will become a key enabler of the energy transition, whilst continuing to provide a vital service to our communities and beyond. We have an ambitious sustainability strategy outlining our plan to accelerate progress towards net zero over the RIIO-ED2 price control up to 2028 and aim to lead by example by reducing our own environmental impact in a transparent, credible way. We will deliver resilient, agile, reliable and decarbonised energy that customers depend on, in a way that is environmentally and economically sustainable and inclusive.
We are committed to propelling our business forward to achieve our sustainability ambitions whilst also supporting our customers and suppliers during the net zero transition.

Our strategy outlines how we will adapt to the impacts of climate change, make use of adaptation pathways, and identify the steps we need to take in ED2 to improve our resilience to the effects and risks of climate change.
Our Sustainability Strategy
The next ten years will see a significant change in the UK economy, a decade that has been described as decisive in tackling climate change and in doing so, also presents the opportunity to build back better from the coronavirus pandemic.
Our Sustainable Supplier Code
Our Sustainable Supplier Code is a collection of 11 KPIs created to help reduce our Scope 3 emissions, whilst supporting our supply chain to reduce their Scope 1 & 2 emissions. We aim to have 80% of our supply chain (by spend) signed up by 2028.
Underground overhead lines
We're investing over £15m in a project which will see the undergrounding of 90km of overhead lines in Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty, National Parks, and National Scenic Areas in the north of Scotland and central southern England.
