We know power cuts can cause extra worries if you're deaf or hard of hearing – from missing important updates to relying on equipment such as hearing aids, visual alarms, vibrating alarms or other communication devices. Priority Services provides free extra support to help you, or someone you care for, stay informed, prepared and reassured before, during and after a power cut.

Get advance notice of planned power cuts where possible, giving you time to charge hearing aids, visual alarms, vibrating alarms and other essential communication devices.

Are you eligible for priority services?

You can join Priority Services if you or someone you care for:

  • Is deaf or hard of hearing
  • Doesn't have English as their first language
  • Are blind or partially sighted
  • Has a disability
  • Lives with children under five
  • Has a chronic illness
  • Use medical equipment that is reliant on electricity
  • Are over 60
  • Temporarily need extra support

How does it work?

Getting support is simple. Follow these three easy steps to join our Priority Services and get a free personolised Power Cut Plan.

  • Register yourself or someone you care for.

    Complete our quick online form or call our team. You can register on behalf of a family member, friend or someone you care for.

  • Tell us how you’d like us to communicate

    We’ll ask a few simple questions about your communication preferences, such as text messages, email, British Sign Language (BSL) support or other accessible options.

  • We'll be there before, during and after a power cut.

    We’ll provide updates during power cuts, advance notice of planned interruptions where possible, and tailored support to help you stay informed and reassured.
