When someone is living with dementia, a power cut can feel confusing or unsettling. Priority Services provides free extra support to help you, or someone you care for, feel more prepared, informed and reassured.

Personalised Power Cut Plan

Receive a free plan tailored to your needs, routines and communication preferences, helping us provide the right support when you need it most.

Early warning

Get advance notice of planned power cuts where possible, helping you or your loved one prepare and make arrangements ahead of time.

Support for carers

Register on behalf of someone you care for, help us understand their needs, and nominate an alternative contact if support arrangements change.

Password scheme

Use a password scheme to help identify genuine SSEN staff if we need to contact or visit, giving added peace of mind.

Are you eligible for priority services?

You can join Priority Services if you or someone you care for:

  • Has Dementia
  • Doesn't have English as their first language
  • Is deaf or hard of hearing
  • Has a disability
  • Lives with children under five
  • Are blind or partially sighted
  • Has a chronic illness
  • Use medical equipment that is reliant on electricity
  • Are over 60
  • Temporarily need extra support

How does it work?

Getting support is simple. Follow these three easy steps to join our Priority Services and get a free personolised Power Cut Plan.

  • Register yourself or someone you care for.

    Complete our quick online form or call our team. You can register on behalf of a family member, friend or someone you care for.

  • We'll create a free plain tailored to your needs and preferences.

    We'll ask you a few simple questions so we understand how best to support you during a power cut and how you'd like us to communicate with you.

  • We'll be there before, during and after a power cut.

    Receive updates during outages, advance notice of planned power cuts where possible, and access to support tailored to your needs.
