Colleagues from our South Caledonia region were at this year’s Angus Show in Brechin, helping customers with resilience tips and advice ahead of winter, spreading the safety message of “Look Out, Look Up” for farmers working on land where our overhead lines are situated, and giving visitors the chance to get a bird’s eye view of the showground (and beyond!).

Samantha O’Connor, Customer Relationship Manager for South Caledonia, was at the event and was delighted with the number of visitors to our stand:

“We’ve attended many engagement events in Angus over the years and have always enjoyed meeting our visitors, and so we were really looking forward to today, our first year at the Angus Show.

“Our focus was two-fold: to share advice and tips on how we can all make ourselves more prepared and resilient ahead of winter,  as well as spreading the “Look out, Look Up” across the local farming community.

"We’re always keen to promote our Priority Services Register, which offers free help and support to those who need it most during a power cut, and information on how to sign-up was included with the free Home Emergency grab bags we were handing out.”

Colleagues from our overhead lines team were also in attendance, and they brought along one of our Mobile Elevating Work Platforms (or MEWPS as we call them day-to-day) to let visitors get a firsthand feel for what it’s like to work at height.

One of the visitors who took the chance to get a bird’s eye view of the site was Fiona McDonald, pictured here with linesperson Stevie Bain.
