Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks (SSEN) is calling on all generators interested in accessing a new funding stream to join a free webinar at 1pm on 27 March. The cross-industry Accelerated Loss of Mains Change Programme (ALoMCP), provides funding for existing generators to become compliant with new protection settings, aimed at supporting network resilience. The webinar will provide generators with all the information they need to guide them through the ALoMCP application process.

SSEN is working with National Grid ESO, the other Distribution Network Operators and Independent Distribution Network Operators to support the ALoMCP. The programme seeks to ensure all generators connected to our network are aware of new requirements for their equipment and can apply for funding to make the necessary changes, before new obligations come into force.

SSEN is working to help generators understand the changes they must make to their equipment, to ensure safe balancing of the grid and security of supply and is calling on all generators to sign up to attend the webinar here. SSEN's Paul Munday will be one of the industry experts leading discussions on the webinar, which will guide site owners and their agents through:

  • the eligibility criteria;
  • the application process;
  • the evidence required to verify implemented changes; and
  • payment.

By taking action, generators will be reducing the risk of their generation tripping out unnecessarily. This will help make this country's secure, reliable power supply even more resilient. Generators can apply for funding if all of the following apply to their installation:

  • Assets were installed before 1 February 2018
  • Loss of Mains Protection was provided by RoCoF or Vector Shift
  • The generation operates in parallel with the mains

Paul Munday, ALoMCP Programme Manager for SSEN said:

"We want to do everything we can to ensure a reliable, secure electricity supply for all our customers. "Many generators in our licence areas have already started the process of updating their equipment and applying for funding to support their work. I would urge those who have not yet responded to get in touch as soon as possible, to ensure they can access all the support on offer before these changes become a requirement and they risk being penalised for failure to comply."
