Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks (SSEN) is urging everyone celebrating Bonfire Night this coming week to be aware of its electricity network and to avoid letting off fireworks and building bonfires near power lines and electricity substations.
Richard Gough, Head of Safety, Health and Environment at SSEN, said:
"At this time of year, as people enjoy traditional autumn activities in the lead up to Bonfire Night, we want to help ensure it's a safe and enjoyable time for all. As a responsible network operator, our primary objective is to deliver a safe and reliable supply of electricity to the communities we serve, so we're urging everyone to keep clear from overhead power lines and electricity substations and to enjoy bonfires and fireworks responsibly."
SSEN is encouraging customers to report power cuts and damage to SSEN's equipment by calling 105, or by reporting via SSEN's Power Track app.
