Vectis Radio Station Director, Kelvin Currie with SSEN's Jasmin Myhill
Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks (SSEN) has taken to the waves to tell its Isle of Wight customers about the additional services it can provide during power cuts.
Customer and Community Advisor for SSEN, Jasmin Myhill travelled to the island's Vectis Radio - which broadcasts to a potential audience of 130,000 listeners on FM and online - to talk about the Priority Services Register (PSR) and how signing up for the scheme could benefit many of the community radio station's listeners.
The free, tailored service is available to all who meet its criteria - from a new-born baby, to someone recovering from illness, to an elderly relative being cared for at home - and SSEN is encouraging all of its customers to find out more about PSR and how it could assist them.
Invited by Kelvin Currie, Vectis' Station Director to take part in his live programme, Jasmin was delighted to be broadcast across the island's airwaves:
"I frequently travel across to the island, working in the depot there and driving round to see our customers and communities; letting them know how we can help them if the power should go off or if they might have to be part of a planned interruption, while we maintain and upgrade the network that powers the Isle of Wight."
"I'm so passionate about my job. I love meeting and chatting to our customers, so to be able to talk to thousands of them at once was an amazing opportunity."
"As well as giving us the chance to spread the message about PSR, Vectis has kindly offered to hold a batch of SSEN's PSR leaflets at the station, so anyone passing by can drop in to pick one up and fill in the form on the back if they want to be included for additional assistance during power cuts."
Kelvin Currie added: "Vectis Radio is a true community station both in name and in action. Our job is to serve the community and part of that job is informing the community about issues like the SSEN Priority Services Register, which many listeners may not have been aware of."
"The enthusiasm of the SSEN team came across both in their eagerness to do the interview and the knowledgeable way they answered questions. We'll be happy to have them back anytime."
