Blog by Gavin Stewart, Flexible Solutions Manager

Your ideas and suggestions are truly invaluable to us – they offer us a fresh insight into the way we do things and can help shape our delivery of a safe, secure and reliable supply of electricity.

And as a member of the DSO Flexible Solutions team, I get to see firsthand how your ideas can make a real difference to our Operational Decision-Making (ODM) processes.

Stakeholder feedback and suggestions have already been integral to our ODM framework over the past 12 months; for example, feeding into the way we’ve adapted our approach to responding to flexibility shortfalls and how we manage Access Products. And through our NeRDA portal,  we’re also sharing near realtime data to manage constraints at our Grid Supply Points.

But we’re not resting our laurels – we’re always looking for ways to further improve the way we do things,  and we’re currently drafting of our updated ODM framework. As the name suggests, it’s a real touchstone in the DSO team library and central to our day-to-day working.

Building on the success of our stakeholders’ thoughts and ideas during last year’s ODM review, we’d love to hear from you again. If you have any comments, feedback or suggestions as to how we can make our DSO processes even better, please let us know between now and the end of August, so we can incorporate everything into our 2025 ODM review.

Once we’ve completed our draft update of the ODM framework, we’ll be putting it out to consultation – again, your input and suggestions will be really important at this point, so be sure to keep an eye out for it arriving in your inbox this winter.
