We do everything we can to deliver a safe and secure supply of electricity all year round, and part of this commitment sees us carrying out essential maintenance and upgrade work across the communities we serve.
On some occasions, for everyone’s safety, it’s necessary to turn off the power for a short time as we carry out planned work on the network, and if this is the case we’ll always do our best to give you as much notice as possible.
Pamela Harvey, our Customer Relationship Manager for Highlands and Islands, was in Skye earlier this week, supporting local staff as they carried out planned work on our lines on the Slaite peninsula and took this photo, which not only shows the teams hard at work, but also the amazing scenery Skye has to offer. Pamela says:
“Our Priority Services Register (PSR) is there to offer extra help and support to customers who need it most when the power is off – whether that’s due to a fault or damage on our network or, as in the case of Skye earlier this week, when we need to turn the power off for safety reasons during planned work.
“When we wrote to our customers advising them of the works that were due to take place, one of our PSR customers called to explain that it might be tricky to get lunch when the power was off, and so as we had this advance notice I was able to deliver her some food -as well as check on her welfare - when our teams were carrying out their essential tasks.
“If you think that you, a relative or friend could benefit from the free help and support that our PSR can offer, please visit our website or call our dedicated team on 0800 294 3259 to learn more.”
