The programme of works - covering the Cruden Bay, Longhaven, Hatton and Ellon areas - starts on 10 July and runs through to the end of August, with teams working on over 100km of SSEN Distribution’s existing network, replacing poles, lines and equipment to ensure the infrastructure is in optimum condition.

For everyone’s safety, there will be times when short sections of the network will need to be temporarily turned off, and for each of these occasions a letter will be sent to the individual properties to give as much advance notice as possible; in addition, information leaflets are being sent to all of the properties across the project area this week.

Speaking ahead of works starting, Graeme Gill, SSEN Distribution’s Project Manager, said:
“We’re committed to doing all we can to deliver a safe, secure and reliable supply of electricity for our customers all year round, and this major refurbishment of our infrastructure will make the network more robust, in turn improving network resilience and minimising the risk of future power cuts.

There will be occasions when we need to turn off the power on sections of the network to allow this essential work to be carried out safely, and I’d like to thank our customers in advance for their patience, as well as apologise if our work disrupts their daily routines.”
