Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks (SSEN) is supporting this year's Farm Safety Week, which has been organised by leading farming charity, the Farm Safety Foundation.

Running from 20-24 July, the event is designed to encourage the farming community to recognise the real dangers of working in the industry, as well as highlighting the importance of physical and mental wellbeing each and every day, not just during Farm Safety Week.

The Farm Safety Foundation, supported by the Health & Safety Executive and leading industry bodies, will be demonstrating the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic on the industry and the support that is available.

Farm Safety Week will also highlight the positive moves towards changing the industry's poor safety record, and also introducing some exciting new innovations in technology to help everyone farm more safely.

Ian Crawley, SSEN's Operational Safety Manager, said:

"We're proud to be supporting this year's annual Farm Safety Week campaign, in what has been a particularly challenging year for all of us, and one where farmers have been recognised as key workers playing an essential role in the country's food production."

"Agriculture may have the poorest safety record of any occupation in the UK, but there are signs that this is improving, and with our 'Look out, look up' campaign, which focuses on working safely around the overhead electrical network, we're proud to be helping promote this change."
