Employees from Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks (SSEN) visited the village of Spynie, near Elgin, to spread the word about its Priority Services Register (PSR).
Supporting customers when they need it most, particularly those who may require extra assistance, is one of SSEN's main priorities. This is especially true during a power cut, or in advance of potential severe weather. SSEN's PSR offers extra help and support to ensure its customers are looked after.
Shona Horn, Customer Relationship Manager for SSEN's North Caledonia region, said:
"Over the festive period, we postponed a planned supply interruption so the community of Spynie could enjoy their annual Christmas lunch at the village hall. We were delighted to attend the event and promised to come back out in the new year to give residents more information on our Priority Services Register."
"It was a pleasure to be invited to Spynie Village Hall's Soup and Sweet day to meet members of the local community, promote the free extra support we offer and give some helpful hints and tips on how to be prepared for a power cut. Ongoing relationships like these are extremely valuable to help us empower our communities all year round."
Customers can qualify for SSEN's Priority Services Register if they:
- Are dependent on electricity for home medical care
- Have a chronic illness or short term medical condition
- Are disabled
- Have special communication needs
- Have children under the age of five
- Are over the age of 60
By registering for SSEN's PSR, customers will be proactively contacted to warn them of potential bad weather to help them prepare and to offer extra support where required. SSEN's teams will also keep in close and regular contact with its PSR customers during network outages to check they are getting the help they need. The free service also offers:
- Dedicated 24-hour priority services phone number
- Information in the format you need, for example Braille, textphone, audio CD or foreign language
