A positive outcome on works by Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks (SSEN) to replace a small section of underground cable at Loddon Bridge Road means that the planned closure of the road will no longer be required.

The 33kV cable in the area had been the subject of testing to identify the specific area of repair, ensuring that any repairs would be carried out with the minimum of disruption to local residents and businesses, and to keep the power supply that feeds the Wokingham area operating at optimum efficiency.

Project Manager Yu Qian, said: "We're delighted that these further tests mean we can lift our plans for the closure of Loddon Bridge Road that were to run until Monday 16 April."

"We'd like to thank the local residents and businesses for their patience and understanding while we carried out these further tests."

The information boards currently in place at Winnersh roundabout and Coppice Road junction will remain until Tuesday 3 March, so that road users and pedestrians are aware of the road closure cancellation.
