Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks has returned to business-as-usual status after heavy rain and strong winds swept across central southern England over the course of the last 48hrs?
Following damage to the electricity network, engineers have now restored power to around 60,000 customers, with the remaining homes reconnected this evening.
A persistent weather front brought unseasonal conditions to Oxfordshire, Hampshire, Berkshire, Wiltshire, Dorset and West London, with wind gusts of up to 60mph recorded on the Isle of Wight and exposed coastal areas.
Extra engineers and support teams were brought in ahead of the bad weather to help support restoration efforts.
Craig Gilroy, Director of Customer Operations, said: "I would like to thank our customers for their patience and understanding as we worked to restore power and pay tribute to our team of engineers and support staff for their hard work and dedication in reconnecting customer supplies as safely and as quickly as possible."
"Although the last couple of days have felt more like January than June, it's testament that we are ready to respond quickly to whatever the Great British weather can throw at us."
