Members of the New Thames Valley Vision project recently completed a series of roadshows at other distribution network operators (DNOs), where they delivered a series of presentations to the hosts' innovation and engineering teams, detailing the key findings from the past five years of innovation trials.

One of these roadshows was held in Crawley with members of UK Power Networks (UKPN). To ensure everyone got the best out of the day, UKPN were able to choose the key areas of learning which would be of most interest and benefit for their teams.

The UKPN staff were guided through findings from across the NTVV electricity monitoring trials, as well as the use of smart analytics to confidently predict where issues are likely to be experienced on electricity networks. Members of the NTVV project team also revealed the most important discoveries from their use of battery storage, automatic demand response and novel customer engagement practices, such as the Low Carbon Community Advisory Centre which was located in Bracknell.

Stewart Reid, Head of Asset Management & Innovation at SSEN, said "We know that the learning we've gained from the project can help other DNOs innovate, and manage their networks more effectively as we all transition to a lower carbon future, so it was essential that we held these sessions with each one to impart as much of our experiences as possible. It's been great to see them taking away so many key findings."

The project will be holding a final close-down event at the Institute of Engineering & Technology (IET) on 28-29th March, where learning from across the project's trials will be shared with key stakeholders. Registration for the event is now open, and to find out more click here.
