The New Thames Valley Vision (NTVV) project is now nearing completion, and is holding a series of "close-down" events for the customers, stakeholders and business partners who have played such a key role in the project's success over the past five years.

One of these events, held last month, was aimed specifically at the domestic and business customers who took part in the technology trials, and the project team gave presentations and hosted discussions on their findings and explained how they can help shape the UK's electricity networks in years to come.

Charlie Edwards, NTVV Customer Project Manager, said "It's been an exciting project, and with it drawing to a close we wanted to show those who have been involved in the trials what theyhave helped us discover, and also the ways in which we can make a real difference by sharing these results with other energy companies, academics and Government."

The venue for this session was National Grid's Control Centre in Wokingham, as they too are keen to meet the challenges posed by the changing ways in which our country consumes and generates electricity. Teams from National Grid joined the NTVV team in explaining the risks, opportunities and innovations involved in pursuing the more efficient management of electricity networks.

In addition to the presentations, customers were also able to experience a guided tour of the Control Centre, witnessing first-hand the monitoring, modelling and management technologies and techniques used by National Grid to ensure a secure supply of electricity nationwide.

The project will be hosting a final "close-down" event at London's Institute of Engineering & Technology (IET) on 28-29th March, where all of the findings of this ground-breaking five year project will be disseminated and discussed with key senior industry figures and stakeholders.
