Partnering to support vulnerable customers

The people you support in your communities are also our customers. When the power goes out, it’s important that those who need extra help know support is available. That’s why we’ve created the Community Toolkit — a set of simple, ready-to-use resources to help you raise awareness and provide reassurance.

The toolkit makes it easy to promote our Priority Services (PSR), a free service for anyone who may need additional support during a power cut. Designed to be flexible, the materials can be used across websites, emails, social media, meetings, or community settings.

Developed with all utilities in mind, the toolkit allows you to select the elements most relevant to your organisation.

If you have any questions or feedback, please contact networksCVteam@sse.com.

What our partners say

We tell our members that the PSR is there to give peace of mind. If you rely on medical equipment or have extra needs, registering means you’ll get tailored support during a power cut.
Joe Bloggs, Charity 1
For us, it’s about making sure vulnerable households know they’re not alone. The PSR ensures they’ll be contacted, supported, and kept safe if the power goes out.
John Smith, Charity 2
We explain that the PSR is free, simple to join, and can make a huge difference. It’s one of the easiest ways to make sure families feel prepared and confident.

How to use the toolkit

No matter how small or large your organisation is - whether you’re running coffee mornings, hosting community drop-ins, managing local services, or leading a national charity - the Community Toolkit has been designed with flexibility in mind. You can pick and choose the resources that work best for your setting and the people you support. Here’s what’s included:

· Short video on the PSR - a simple explainer you can share online or play at events.

· Posters - available in translated versions and easy read formats, perfect for noticeboards, community centres, or local hubs.

· Quick guide for frontline roles - a handy reference for staff and volunteers who want to signpost customers quickly to helpful resources.

· Email signature banner - a subtle but effective way to raise awareness every time you send an email.

· Social media assets - tailored graphics and posts covering a wide range of subject specialisms, ready to share across your channels.

And whether you plan to put up a single poster, add a banner to your emails, or share assets across your social media channels, we truly appreciate your support. Every action helps us reach our shared customers and ensures those who need extra help feel informed, supported, and reassured that help is available.
