This £12m project – which is being delivered in partnership with contractors Brush Group – will further improve the resilience and reliability of energy supplies to homes and businesses in the area.
Work will be focussed on our underground cable network running along the A90 between Peterhead Power Station to the south of the town, and St Fergus Gas Terminal to the north.
- With a large part of the work taking place in sections of the public highways, for everyone’s safety, temporary traffic management will be in place when required.
- We’ve worked closely with Amey and Aberdeenshire Council to agree this traffic management plan, which is designed to keep everyone safe and minimise potential disruption.
- Where traffic management is needed on sections of the route, this will be sign-posted in advance.
- And while the overall works are expected to be ongoing ‘til Autumn 2027, it’s important to stress that the traffic management plans is for sections of around 600m at any one time, with 24hr traffic lights in place for everyone’s safety.

On a small part of the project route, these essential works will coincide with the ongoing Eastern Green Link 2 (EGL2) project, which is being delivered as a joint venture between SSEN Transmission and National Grid Electricity Transmission. We’re working hard with the EGL2 project team to minimise the impact to road users.
