SSEN Distribution has moved to Weather Warning status in anticipation high winds forecast to move across its north of Scotland network region from noon today.

Based on a change in forecast this morning, high winds are expected across large parts of the west coast on the Scottish mainland, the Western Isles, Caithness, Wester Ross, Aberdeenshire, Moray, Orkney, and Shetland.  These areas could see gusts of up to 60mph, with the strongest wind gusts reaching 70mph on the north east coast. The weather front is expected to ease in the evening and move from the region by midnight tonight.

In preparation for this unsettled weather, we have enacted our well-established resilience plans and we have deployed additional teams, including contractors, to key locations in anticipation of any potential damage to our network.

We are also contacting customers on our Priority Service Register and talking to our local resilience partners ahead of the weather arriving.

If you see any damaged equipment, please keep a safe distance from it and report it to us by calling 105, and our engineers will investigate as soon as possible
