Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks (SSEN) is donating £2,000 towards Inspire's 'Sparkles Ball' to help the charity fund its rescheduled event next month.
Inspire PTL (Partnership Through Life) is a Scottish charity empowering the life choices of hundreds of adults and young people with learning disabilities and additional support needs.
Its flagship annual event was due to take place in October at the Beach Ballroom in Aberdeen but was cancelled on health and safety grounds following an earlier power cut in the area.
SSEN's engineers quickly restored power to all customers affected but the decision had already been taken to reschedule the event to ensure the safety and comfort of all attendees. The event will take place on Saturday 17 February 2018.
When the charity publicly appealed for support to help fund the rescheduled event in February, SSEN's offer of £2,000 as a gesture of goodwill was warmly accepted.
Neil Wilson, Head of Region for North Caledonia at SSEN, said:
"The timing of the network fault was very unfortunate, so when we heard about the cancellation of the event, we decided that we wanted to help in some way.
"We hope our donation will help ensure an extremely successful Sparkles Ball at the Beach Ballroom in February."
Linda Gray, Chief Executive of Inspire PTL added: "We were all really sorry that the October event ended the way that it did as Sparkles is the event of the year for everyone supported by Inspire.
"We are extremely grateful to SSEN for their generous support and indeed to everyone who has contributed towards making sure that the rescheduled event will take place in a few weeks and will be another great evening for the people we support."
Inspire PTL is looking for further funding support to make the next Sparkles Ball an enjoyable evening for all. Anyone who feels they may be able to offer support should call 01224 280 005 or email linda.grayinspiremail.org.uk.
