Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks (SSEN) has returned to business as usual for its north of Scotland region following the impact of today's strong winds and heavy snow.
This combination of weather conditions led to damage to our overhead line network in the Aberdeenshire, Angus, Moray and Highland regions, including multiple instances of 'line icing', where snow accumulated causing power supply interruptions.
Since midnight last night, SSEN has successfully restored power to over 13,500 homes, including all those affected by the overnight weather event.
Dale Cargill, Director of Customer Operations for SSEN, said:
"Despite the extreme weather our network has again stood up well. I would like to thank our customers for their continued patience and understanding as we restored power and I would also like to pay tribute to our team of engineers and support staff for their hard work and dedication in very challenging conditions."
"Our teams remain prepared to respond quickly to any further instances of damage to our network the Scottish winter may bring. Any customers who do suffer a loss of power at any time can contact us on the new national power cut helpline '105' where they can also advise if they require extra support from our priority service."
