Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks has held the second round of its "Stand Down for Safety" events, taking place over two days in rural Hampshire. These sessions, which were specifically designed for our contracting partners, reinforced our key safety message: "If it's not safe, we don't do it".

Kevin Cracknell, Head of Network Upgrades, explains the background to these latest events: "In January we held a series of "Back to Work" sessions with our contractors, where the emphasis was firmly on shaking off the festive cobwebs and renewing everyone's focus on safety. These events were very successful, with lots of interesting and useful feedback and it was clear there was a real appetite for more of these sessions."

"This time, we had speakers from a range of our teams discussing the importance of safety in everything we do, and the impact it can have not only on our teams working on site, but also how it can affect our customers and the perception they have of our company. Throughout all of these talks, the key message was "If it's not safe, we don't do it."

The next round of safety events is scheduled to take place in January 2017.
