SSEN Distribution will be undertaking a multi-million-pound vital infrastructure upgrade starting this Spring. This work will see us upgrade twenty-six towers that form part of the overhead line between Mannington and Bear Cross. Reinforcing this section of the distribution network is part of our continued commitment to ensuring our communities have a reliable and resilient power supply.

How will this affect you?

Our work will begin in Spring 2026, completing in Autum 2026. During this time you will see an increased presence of our delivery teams on and around the overhead line from Mannington to Bear Cross.

Throughout this project it will be necessary to install scaffolding on or over some residential properties. We will be working in sections to ensure any disruption is localised and writing directly to any property affected.

Our Route

Our Environmental Considerations

We’re dedicated to minimising the environmental impact of what we do and ensuring no net loss of biodiversity on our large projects. We completed an assessment to look at how the project would affect nearby trees and vegetation. As such, some limited vegetation clearance and branch removal will be needed. To compensate for the loss of vegetation, and to achieve our goal of no net loss of biodiversity, we’re committed to replanting in the area.

Community Engagement

We’re engaging with the community in Ferndown throughout the project and encourage residents and stakeholders to stay informed about the project’s progress. To support this, we’re hosting a community drop-in event to discuss the project.
