Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks (SSEN) is supporting Tay FM's Mission Christmas, the largest Christmas toy appeal in the UK, run by Cash for Kids.
Employees at SSEN's Customer Contact Centre in Perth organised their annual Christmas Jumper Day with a difference this year, with those in the office wearing their festive jumpers and donating their daily coffee run money to the annual appeal. Colleagues currently working from home were also encouraged to embrace the festive spirit and donate from home.
With 2020 a year like no other, many families are unexpectedly facing poverty and more and more children could be waking up on Christmas Day without anything under the tree. Every year, Mission Christmas supports thousands of organisations and the children they help, ensuring local children living in poverty wake up to a visit from Santa on Christmas morning.
Sara Reilly, Customer Service Advisor at SSEN's Customer Contact Centre organised this year's fundraising event with a difference. She said:
"Traditionally Christmas jumper days support large charities, however this year it felt right to keep it local and support a charity close to home. We support Mission Christmas every year through gift donations, but with many colleagues working from home I was worried Mission Christmas wouldn't get our usual support."
"Our small team in the office raised £115, everyone made a great effort and it's been a little boost we needed in our office this week. We're delighted to support such a great cause that supports local children at Christmas."
