Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks (SSEN) has commenced essential electricity works in Inveralmond Industrial Estate, Perth.

To enable the connection of approximately 3,000 additional homes, a school, and other amenities being constructed as part of the Bertha Park development, SSEN has invested £2.8 million on a new electricity substation located next to SSEN's depot within the Inveralmond Industrial Estate.

This new substation will increase the security of supply to surrounding properties in the area, with 3.5km of underground cables reinforcing the existing electricity network.

To energise the new substation, SSEN will work to re-configure the existing high voltage underground cabling in the area. To safely install the underground cables, excavations will be required with traffic management and road closures as follows:

  • During the hours of 07:30am and 18:00pm at weekends from Saturday 30 March until Sunday 21 April, SSEN will be utilising 2-way traffic lights on the junction of Ruthvenfield Avenue, along Ruthvenfield Road and to the Perth Recycling Centre.
  • Ruthvenfield Avenue will be closed, with local access, Monday to Friday from Monday 25 March for four weeks.

John Thoms, Project Delivery Manager at Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks (SSEN), said:

"We'd like to thank local residents and road users for their patience as we carry out essential works on the underground cable network to enable the energisation of Inveralmond Primary Substation, connecting the Bertha Park development to SSEN's electricity network."

"To ensure the safety of the public and our teams as they work, traffic management and short duration road closures will be required on Ruthvenfield Road and Ruthvenfield Avenue. Whilst we will do all we can to minimise the impact of these works, we would like to apologise in advance for any inconvenience caused."
