Teams from Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks (SSEN) are holding a series of contractor safety events in the north of Scotland and central southern England to share best practice and bring safety to the forefront of everyone's mind this year.

The safety of SSEN's workforce, its customers and the environment is a key objective for the teams across its network areas, and SSEN's north east region has been making progress in delivering this message to each and every individual working on SSEN's behalf.

Neil Wilson, Head of Region at SSEN recently held an engagement event in Aberdeen. He said: "The purpose of these events is to engage with our contractors. We want to share our best practices with them and make them feel part of our safety family and part of our safety culture. At SSEN, we urge our employees and contractors to stop work and challenge situations if they believe something isn't safe. Events like these give us an opportunity to reinforce our key message of "if it's not safe, we don't do it"."

"Feedback from our first session in November has been very positive; with 100% of those attending feeling the engagement day was beneficial. Many of our contracting partners use SSEN as their benchmark for safety, so it's important we continue this regular engagement. We are committed to holding eight further sessions this year across the north east and Shetland."
