Following the impact of Sunday's extreme weather, which brought sustained high winds and heavy snow across Oxfordshire, Wiltshire and Berkshire, SSEN has returned to business as usual for its distribution network in central southern England.
Throughout the course of the event SSEN successfully reconnected over 57,000 homes, with supplies now restored to all customers affected.
In preparation, SSEN drafted in extra resources, with over 850 frontline and support staff on duty, and moved equipment to areas it expected to be most affected. Over 137,000 customers on its Priority Service Register were also proactively contacted to offer extra help and support.
Craig Gilroy, Director of Customer Operations, said:
"I can confirm that we have now restored power to all customers affected by Sunday's extreme weather. We know it's never easy to deal with a power cut and, as always, we are grateful to our customers for their patience and understanding as we worked to restore supplies."
"I would also like to thank our teams for their efforts to get the lights back on for our customers in extremely challenging conditions and praise our resilience partners who helped support our vulnerable customers and provide welfare facilities."
"We have now returned to business as usual but we will continue to monitor conditions and are well prepared to respond to whatever challenges the Great British winter has in store for us."
