Having started his career with SSE as an apprentice at Peterhead Power Station in 1979, Stuart Hogarth is now the Programme Director for Networks Transformation.
Following his apprenticeship at Peterhead, he moved within the business to work on SSE's hydro power stations, taking on various roles over the next 17 years including Group Manager for Affric/Beauly and Sloy/Awe group which covers SSE's hydro stations from Tarbet on Loch Lomond to Oban and Campbeltown.
In 2002, he was made Head of Business Improvement, before moving to the Networks business as Head of Operations for Power Distribution, responsible for the operation, maintenance and refurbishment of the Electrical Distribution network in the North of Scotland. This was soon followed by a move to England to take up the role of Distribution Operations Director based in Reading where Stuart was responsible for the network in the South of England.
From there, he became the Director of Customer Operations, making him responsible for ensuring all Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks' distribution customers receive the electricity they need to live day to day. At the beginning of 2017, Stuart took up the post of Programme Director for Networks Transformation delivering technology solutions and organisational development investments, and says he owes it all to applying for the apprenticeship scheme back in 1979.
