Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks worked with EA
Technology and a range of partners to deliver the My Electric Avenue project,
which was part of Ofgem’s Low Carbon Networks fund and ran from January 2013
to December 2015.
The project sought to test two types of innovation:
commercial innovation, to see if a third party delivering a project could
accelerate innovation; and technical innovation, to understand the impacts of
clustered electric vehicle (EV) charging on low voltage (LV) networks and
whether technology could manage these impacts.
After 3 years of delivery the project has provided crucial
insights into the driving and charging habits of over 200 EV drivers, as well
as the ability to manage EV charging during periods of peak demand to defer
or remove the need for reinforcement of a network to cope with the increase
For access to all the findings and associated media,
