Right now, we’re creating the smart, fair, system to power the electricity network for the years to come.

In practice, this means we’re doing a power of work to get more people and projects connected to a growing electricity system.

We’re making it fit-for-purpose for the millions more EVs that will take to the roads, and the heat pumps that will warm our homes.  

We’re opening the doors to a flexible electricity market, where everyone can play a part.  

Our 4 Strategic Commitments

If the UK is to deliver its net zero emissions target by 2050, the energy industry needs to embrace a fundamental change in order to decarbonise transport and heat. Our approach is tailored to local needs to drive a just and fair transition, advising and guiding our stakeholders in coordination with local communities to help them deliver net zero at maximum pace and minimum cost. To achieve this we are focusing on 4 key areas:
