Proud of our past, prepared for the future. We’re powering our community.

We are the electricity Distribution Network Operator (DNO) responsible for delivering power to over 3.9 million homes and businesses across central southern England and the north of Scotland. We serve some of the most diverse and unique geographies across the UK, and keep customers and communities connected whilst developing the flexible electricity network vital to achieving net zero.

Our skilled teams are based right across the regions we serve, from the bustle of West London to the smallest villages in the Highlands and Islands of Scotland.  They are supported by engineering and customer service teams based in major offices and depots in centres like Reading, Portsmouth, Perth and Inverness.
  • Customer support

We are committed to offering our customers the very best in customer service and are keen to hear how you feel about us. If you would like to discuss or raise a complaint or say thanks, we have a dedicated page that'll allow you to do just that.
  • Our customer service guide

Our Customer Service Guide details who we are, what we do, how we can help you in the event of a power cut, and how you can contact us. It also details our Safety and Security of supplies, Special Services, and access to premises. It’s all of the customer service information you need in one handy document.
  • Performance standards

Whilst we cannot guarantee a constant supply of electricity, we will always get your power restored as quickly as we can. The Guaranteed Standards of Performance set out how quickly we must restore power following an interruption in supply.
  • Working near our infrastructure

From time to time the development and maintenance work of others can come close to, and often cross, our infrastructure. If you are a statutory undertaker or large-scale developer and wish to discuss your work with us, find out more here.
  • Sustainability

Our Sustainability ambition is to be a leading Distribution Network Operator in our journey to achieve net zero. Our strategy sets out what we will do to embed Sustainability throughout our operations.
  • Land rights

The right of access to the land is granted through a Land Right which can be a personal agreement between ourselves and the Grantor (wayleave) or a permanent right to the land (servitude/easement). There are 4 types of agreements, find out more here.
