Generators and demand connections will have the opportunity to contribute to delivering a low-carbon, smarter energy system as Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks (SSEN) seeks flexibility providers to support the electricity network in the south of England.
SSEN has identified four areas in the south which will benefit from smarter solutions, known as flexible services, to manage electricity demand during maintenance work or fault conditions:
* Havant (Secure, Dynamic and Restore)
* Chickerell (Secure, Dynamic and Restore)
* Thatcham (Secure, Dynamic and Restore)
* Rownhams (Secure, Dynamic and Restore)
These areas are will be live on Piclo Flex in the coming weeks, the independent marketplace for buying and selling smart grid flexibility services, and SSEN is calling on interested parties to register at picloflex.com.
Known as Constraint Managed Zones (CMZ), flexibility services from renewable energy generators and battery storage, including hydro, solar and wind, can opt in to being paid to provide power to support SSEN's network during maintenance and faults on the network, reducing the reliance on fossil fuel based energy generation. Service providers can also opt in to be paid to turn down their electricity demand to support SSEN's network operations.
Objectives of Webinar
The Webinar will cover an overview of CMZ and the different requested services you may want to offer in the locations mentioned above, we will also go into the procurement process.
