  • Stage 1 Connections

    If you are installing a single small scale generation system that complies with EREC G83/2 or G98 then follow the Single G83/2 or G98 Stage 1 Connection process described below. Additionally, if you plan to install an energy storage device along with your generation, then you may qualify for the Energy Storage Fast Track Connection Process described below, which simplifies the installation of energy storage devices.

     

    Single G83/2 or G98 Stage 1 Connection

    If you want to install a generation system of 3.68kW (with an output of less than 16 amps per phase) then the process for connecting generation within ENA ER G83/2 or G98 Stage 1 is relevant to you.

    If a generator is fitted under G83/2 or G98 Stage 1, then within 28 days of installation (as per ESQCR 2002) the commissioning confirmation and single line diagram showing inverter or relay details must be completed and returned to us. There is no requirement for you to contact us prior to installation.

    Note: we will normally accept a small-scale wind generator which has been type tested under G83/2 or G98.

    As the process above indicates, there is no application necessary if the generator meets the above criteria and no works are required to increase your capacity, however the commissioning form must be completed and returned to us within 28 days of installation.

    G83 Energy Storage Fast Track Connection Process

    This process is for small scale Energy Storage schemes. These are described as:

    A single phase connection where the customer:
    a) has an existing PV installation (or other DG type) that conforms
    with EREC G83/G98 requirements, and wishes to install a battery
    storage device via a separate EREC G83/G98 type tested invertor; or

    b) wishes to install both a new PV (or other DG type) scheme and
    battery storage device via two separate EREC G83/G98 type tested
    invertors.

    Both a) and b) would normally require an EREC G59/G99 application with a response required from the DNO within 45 days (GSoP). However, this fast track process allows for a simplified connection process.  

    Energy Storage Fast Track Connection Process is applicable where:
    • the scheme is in accordance with a) or b) above and the installation complies with the requirements of ENA EREC G100 and guarantees export is limited to 16A per phase;
    • all criteria within the form can be met and all relevant information can be included.

    If all the criteria can be met as per the fast track form, the customer can connect and notify. The relevant commissioning notification and fast track form with the required information must be submitted to us within 28 days of installation. Please note that we will retain the authority to audit any online application post approval. If a proposed connection is found to be non-compliant in terms of meeting the fast track criteria, then we reserve the right to revoke its approval.
