Completion of our £10m underground cable project between Iver and Slough
29 July 2014
We have successfully completed our £10m project to install 11km of new underground cables between Iver and Slough, a project which will make the local network more resilient and improve supplies to nearly 60,000 homes and businesses.
Part of the work involved using a horizontal directional drill to install the cables under the busy M4, which meant that the road-users were able to go about their journeys without any disruption or delays caused by the complex engineering process taking place under their path. The cables' route also made its way through several residential areas, and busy main roads.
Chris Slingsby, Distribution Major Projects Manager, said: "We're committed to keeping the lights on for all our customers and this £10m investment will make the network around Iver and Slough more robust and secure for many years to come. We worked hard to ensure that we completed our work with the minimum amount of disruption to the local communities and liaised with the local council's highways team throughout the project, and I'd like to thank everyone for their patience and understanding as our teams went about their tasks."
