Existing electricity supplies

If it has been noted that the property's existing cutout fuse is faulty, but isn’t dangerous, we will replace the cutout fuse with one of identical capacity.

We can temporarily de-energise your supply to allow you to complete other work. (This can only be for a maximum interruption of 72 consecutive hours. If you require your power to be off longer or permanently, you will require a disconnection.)

De-energise/re-energise

When your property no longer needs an electricity supply, for example, because it is going to be demolished, please contact us, so we can disconnect it from the mains network and make it safe.

If you’re installing a new appliance or connecting something which may take more demand from your electricity supply, you will need a load check to see if your supply can handle this.

Where the box is damaged beyond repair you will need to supply a replacement box which we will usually fit free of charge.

If the meter board is damaged or missing and our equipment is attached to it (cut out fuse or power cable), we will investigate this.

A service alteration is a change to the location of your supply point and meter. You may need to apply for a service alteration if you are renovating your property, building an extension, or demolishing a part of the property that may require you to move your meter.

We will arrange for an engineer to attend to check if PME, is available at your property. We will also update our equipment to accommodate the connection and connect this for you.

If you've noticed a pole leaning or a damaged stay, then we can attend and assess how secure the pole is.

Pole assessment

If your power cable is attached to a bracket that has a screw missing or is coming away from the property, we will attend the site and re-fix the bracket (unless deemed an emergency).

Refix bracket

We can cover our overhead cables with a sleeve to ensure you are safe when working nearby.

Shrouding

We can temporarily isolate your incoming electricity supply.

Temporary isolation

We can arrange for a tree cutter or Arborist to attend the site in order to inspect the tree(s) to determine what work is required.

Tree cutting

We can attend your property and remove the electricity cable from the wall to enable you to complete your maintenance work (such as painting the property or replacing the fascias). Once your work is complete, we can then re-attach your cable back in its original location.

We can carry out an underground cable assessment to make sure no cables are within the area around your property where you plan to work.

If you have a Framework Agreement in place you can request joint use of any SSEN LV poles.
